Looks like the “Big O” fell under Rio’s spell…
There is a wonderful documentary about Welles’ star-crossed time in Rio called “It’s All True.” It’s a compilation of the documentary footage Welles shot himself. The soundtrack was lost, and the film runs with a cogent narration, interspered with interviews of people who were working with Welles then. There are a few snippets of Welles’ narration, which are marvelously evocative of the man’s intensity. Treat yourself to this one.
