How clean are Brazilian beaches?

Brazil is facing an extreme heat wave. This week, the city of Rio registered 43.2 degrees Celsius (109.8 F) There is only one way to escape: run to the nearest beach. But almost one in every five Brazilian beaches is considered inadequate for bathing and water sports.
