Thanks so much, tt. Indeed, I try always to credit the photos, especially because I really put energy in finding cool images - the authors deserve it. If you liked this post, I suggest you check this one, published a few days ago: http://deepbrazil.com/2010/01/12/you-know-you-are-brazilian-when/
Take care, Regina

Jim, I am sorry to disappoint you, but apparently bus pickpockets are mimicing your fairy godmother - they offer to hold your stuff and later you discover your wallet is missing. It happened to someone I know and another source confirmed it is a new trend. Sigh.

One offer of neighborliness that always warms my heart is the offer by a person sitting on the bus to hlold your bags if you are standing.

I was reminded of this last week when coming back from the shopping center with two somewhat large bags. I was getting my footing in the aisle with one hand holding the bags and one hand overhead holding on tight.

Like a fairy godmother the woman seated next to me offered to hold my bags for me. *smile* It made the 20 minute ride infinitely more comfortable.

Thanks! I always feel awckward when defining what makes us Brazilian - it is never fair to the zillion Brazilians that don´t fit the stereotype. But, still, I think we can´t deny the prevalence of these characteristics.

This is a great post. Thanks! Funny that I was just talking with students about the kissing protocol in social gatherings and the punctuality factor. I was saying exactly the same thing :)
Valeu!
